COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Columbus man has been released from the hospital and is now in the Lowndes County jail after authorities say he attempted to eat crack cocaine.
Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant Thursday at a home on Harris Drive.
They say when they entered the home, they found Michael Anthony Guyton, 35, in the back bedroom of the home attempting to eat the narcotic.
Guyton was carried by ambulance to the Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle as a precaution.
Authorities say ingesting a large amount of cocaine by mouth can cause severe bodily harm or death.
Agents searched the residence and report seizing crack cocaine and powder cocaine.
Guyton was taken into custody at the hospital emergency room once he was released from medical care.
