TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- If you stepped outside Thursday, you felt those cold, strong wind gusts.
Wind whipped through the state resulting in what posed a potential traffic hazard Thursday morning.
A huge sign remains on the ground close to the southbound lane on Highway 45 near the Barnes Crossing exit in Tupelo.
Mississippi Department of Transportation spokesperson Bill Jamieson says the sign weighs no less than 500 pounds and may weigh as much as 1,000 pounds.
It was blown onto the road.
It was moved to its present spot until crews have a chance to bring in heavy equipment to remove it.
