TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — Tupelo Police Chief Bart Aguirre announced he will name Jackie Allan Gilbert Deputy Chief of Police effective November 1, 2013.
Mayor Jason Shelton said, “Chief Aguirre’s first appointment is an excellent one. Deputy Chief Gilbert has a broad range of experience and will serve the city well.”
Gilbert joined the Tupelo Police Department in June 1994 as a patrol officer and achieved the position of shift commander in 2005. Currently, he is the TPD Advanced Training Coordinator, the Crime Stoppers Coordinator for Northeast MS and serves on the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.
“Deputy Chief Gilbert brings a combination of training, experience, and interagency connections as he joins Majors Hill and Clayton on my leadership team,” Chief Aguirre said. “He shares our vision for justice & unity within the department, throughout our diverse community, and between the various law enforcement agencies we interact with on a daily
Deputy Chief Gilbert has experience in SWAT, criminal investigation, community policing, special operations and school-based policing. He served as President of the Mississippi Association of School Resources Officers for six years. Gilbert was selected to participate in a FBI Fellowship Program and was assigned to INTEPOL, an international intelligence agency permitting collaboration among intelligence agencies around the world.
Gilbert is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and attended Moraine Valley College and University of Virginia with an emphasis in criminal justice.
