TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- Joshua Bailey is having fun. He would love to be driving a Toyota Corolla, but finding out what makes it tick is even more fulfilling.
"It's pretty fun to get up in there to see what all new is coming out and the way all of it works and stuff," Bailey said.
Six Corollas were recently donated by Toyota to Itawamba Community College for use in the classroom.
"They were a little intimidated at first at the idea of taking brand new vehicles and doing intense work on them, but once we talked to them about the process and showed them the procedures, they're very excited now," Automotive Technology Instructor Ritchie Burton said.
"I think it helps us out a lot having these newer cars and learning the diagnostics of how these new cars work, and it just helps us when we get out into the field to make money," student Dallas Davis said.
Instructors said a lesson with real vehicles will open up doors much faster in the working world.
"The salaries range anywhere from $25,000 in our area, probably around $60,000 to $70,000 depending on what type of job it is whether they work at a dealership or independent shops," Automotive Technology Department Director Brad Crowder said.
