TUPELO, Miss (WTVA)--Daylight Saving Time ends November third.

Tupelo Fire Chief Thomas Walker says it's a good time to check your smoke detector and battery power.

Chief Walker says smoke detectors should be tested monthly, but testing them twice a year makes a big difference.

"We like to take these two opportunites a year to know that you have a fresh battery in your smoke detector," said Walker.

The Tupelo Fire Chief says the smoke detectors themselves need to be changed at least every ten years.
