FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WTVA) -- Silver Airways has been honored by a national air industry publication.
Air Transport World magazine named the air carrier as its 2013 Regional Airline of the Year.
The Fort Lauderdale-based carrier offers over 100 flights per day from airports in 11 states, the District of Columbia, and the Bahamas.
The magazine says Silver was selected for the honor because of its outstanding growth and achievements.
They says the regional air carrier's work elevates the overall regional airline industry.
Founded in 2011, Silver's expansion during 2012 included the addition of service from Tupelo Regional Airport.
The company employs 800 people.
Silver Airways is the first U.S.-based airline to win the award since 2008.
