TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - If you thought holiday shopping for bargains comes to an end after Black Friday, think again.
The day after Black Friday is called Small Business Saturday.
"This is one of the two busiests days that we have back to back. They're closer to Christmas. We do have busy days, but this is one of the busiests weekends that we do have," said Clyde Biddie, officer manager at Reed's Department Store.
With an expected increase of 75 to 100% of customers, stores have to work overtime to get everything prepared.
"We prepare for it, to try and make it as easy as possible for people to get in and out," adds Biddle. "It is a tremendous amount of traffic that comes through this weekend."
Another advantage to shopping at stores in downtown Tupelo is the convenience factor as opposed to doing shopping in a crowded mall in a large city.
"It's definitely a lot more convenient coming to a downtown area to small businesses," said Lane McClellan, sales associate at Yellow Lovebirds. "You can come in, you can get what you want and go. There's not alot of traffic."
For those who like to shop until they drop or just be a power shopper the merchants can sum it up best when it's finally closing time.
"They're usually very exhausting, just because there very busy," adds McClellan. "We have people in and out but it's something that we look forward to as far as retail goes."
After all the shopping and wrapping of gifs the countdown to December 25th is magnified.
