FORT WORTH, Tex. (WTVA) -- American Red Cross emergency response vehicles sent to help with the initial recovery from Hurricane Sandy will soon catch a ride home.
Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad has agreed to transport the vehicles by rail back to the regions where they were dispatched.
The railway company is not charging for the service.
Nearly 200 ERVs were dispatched from across chapters nationwide to assist in the northeastern U. S.
The American Red Cross - North Mississippi Chapter in Tupelo dispatched their ERV in late October.
Officials with the office tell WTVA.com they were notified their ERV would be shipped to Atlanta, Georgia.
A crew from Tupelo will then travel to Georgia to pick it up.
They hope to have the vehicle back home next week.
