BELDEN, Miss. (WTVA) -- Students from eleven different agencies throughout the state are now ready to take on the role of investigator after completing a TPD course.

These officers graduated from the Tupelo Police Department's seven week criminal investigators certification course at the ICC Belden campus Thursday.

Many of these graduates are already members of the Tupelo Police Department and some of them are already investigators.

The district attorney said they took the course to further hone their skills.

"They absolutely play the most critical role, because the job they do determines how good of a case we do and how good of a case we have," Lee County District Attorney Trent Kelly said.

Kelly spoke to the graduates at the ceremony.

He emphasized the importance of working together as a team.
