TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- Natchez Trace Parkway officials are looking at several options should automatic budget cuts take affect March 1.
Acting Superintendent Dale Wilkerson tells WTVA.com no specific details are finalized, but the cuts could affect some services and employment.
He says 25 restroom areas along the 444-mile roadway could be closed one day each week.
Wilkerson also says it is a possibility they will have to reduce hours and close some visitor sights along the Parkway.
He also says they would be prevented from hiring 60 seasonal workers.
Wilkerson says the law enforcement operations will not be affected.
He says at peak, the Parkway employs 200 people.
The law enforcement division makes up one-third of those workers.
He would not speculate on worker furloughs, but did say layoffs were not among the options being discussed.
