VERONA, Miss. (WTVA) — Two Verona police officers have been placed on adminstrative leave following the shooting death of a man Tuesday afternoon.

Police Chief Anthony Anderson tells WTVA's Javanté Ingram the names of the officers involved are not being released at this time.

Henry Montgomery, 31, of Aberdeen was shot and killed after an apparent altercation following a traffic stop on Mattox Road.

An unnamed person was also arrested at the scene.

Officers made the stop while responding to a report of a disturbance in the city around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The Lee County Sheriff's Department has taken over the investigation of the incident.

They say more details will be released following a court appearance by the man arrested Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
