TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Lee County Justice Court Misdemeanor Drug Court will not be funding for the coming year.

Lee County Supervisors say the drug court recently lost state funding.

On Friday, during a meeting on the budget and tax levy for the coming budget year, Supervisor Tommy Lee Ivy asked the board to provide funding for the court for the coming year.

The motion failed after no other supervisor seconded the motion.

The court, overseen by Justice Court Judge Ricky Thompson, offered non-violent drug offenders to get substance abuse help to try and get them off drugs.

The court also handled misdemeanor alcohol offenses and misdemeanor crimes.
