Man charged following high speed chase

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Plantersville man faces charges after leading police on a high speed chase through parts of Tupelo.

Tupelo police have charged James A. Young, 31, with felony fleeing.

Authorities say the chase started around 8:30 Saturday night when an officer attempted to make a traffic stop near the Highway 45/Main Street exit.

The pursuit ended on Tedford Street when the driver lost control and hit a tree.

The driver was apprehended after a short foot chase.

Young remains in the Lee County jail on a $10,000 bond.
