TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — The Boys and Girls Clubs of North Mississippi received a $4,000 grant to benefit its SMART Moves program.
The check was presented Monday at the Tupelo Rotary Club meeting.
The youth organization was approved for a $2,000 grant from the Rotary district.
That amount was matched by a grant from the Tupelo Rotary Club to support the Haven Acres and Northside Boys and Girls Clubs.
The program focuses on conflict resolution, avoiding drug and alcohol use and dealing with other issues children encounter.
"Thank you for the community supporting us in this effort, and we're going to be the organization of choice for you," said Zell Long, chief officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of North Mississippi. "And we appreciate it."
The Boys and Girls Clubs in Tupelo serve approximately 150 students each day.
