TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- A firefighter injured battling a blaze last week in Lee County has returned home after being treated at a Jackson burn center.

Palmetto Fire Department Assistant Chief Wally Bruce suffered first and second degree burns when he entered the old Malone's Fish and Steak house building on Friday.

Crews from eight different fire departments responded to the fire.

The fire was first reported around 3 a.m. and was under control by 5 a.m.

The building was a total loss.

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal and the Lee County Sheriff's Department are working to determine where and how the fire started.
