GUNTOWN, Miss. (WTVA) -- It took nine months, but Guntown police finally have a new crime-fighting tool on board.
Patrol cars are now equipped with radar.
Police Chief Michael Hall says they began their pursuit for radar following the 2010 census.
State law allows for radar when a town's population rises to two thousand people.
Guntown's population is approximately 2,084.
Officials say radar is hoped to please residents who have complained about speeding vehicles for years.
"We hope it's gonna reduce the complaints-especially of speed and reduce the total number of accidents that we have per year to reduce that rate down," Chief Hall said.
Radar was installed one week ago.
