VERONA, Miss. (WTVA) -- Furniture Today reports Ashley Furniture plans to expand its Mississippi operations into Lee County.

The publication says the company has acquired a 275,000-square-foot facility for use as a factory, customer support center, and replacement parts center.

The site is the former distribution center for Morgan Fabrics and will produce mattresses and sofa-sleepers.

Furniture Today sites company officials who say the building sits on a 35-acre site in the Tupelo-Lee Industrial Park South and could be expanded to meet future needs.

The report says nearly 60 workers will be hired for the initial startup, scheduled for this summer.
