TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA)-- The Fall Tupelo Furniture Market is already a success for Romila Parbhakar and her sister.
“You would be surprised. We haven’t even started the market and we have got a customer coming at 2 p.m.,“ said Parbhakar.
With the official start of Fall Market still days away, red sold signs can already be seen on several pieces of furniture. This is one reason the sisters say they've returned for a 7th year.
“The business is picking up and we are doing very well. I find the Tupelo Market very friendly and a very nice market,” said Parbhakar.
Parbhakar may be a returning exhibitor, but according to Market President, Kevin Seddon, they have close to 80 new exhibitors.
“We have about a 30 percent increase in new buyers, and these are people that haven’t been here in a while or have never been here. I think that's a good sign the economy is improving and retailers want to get out and buy product," said Seddon.
Unlike last market, the weather hopefully won’t be an issue this time. In fact, organizers say folks who couldn’t make it here last time around because of winter weather will be here in the All America City this week.
“We had a lot of people who couldn’t get here from Kentucky- they couldn't get here from Memphis, couldn't get here from Arkansas and so that kind of hurt us a little bit, but we still had a good market," said Seddon.
And Seddon is expecting this market to be even better. The market will officially open on Thursday and it will run through Sunday.
