TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- A longtime volunteer and community-minded member in Tupelo has died.
Palmer Foster, 89, died Monday at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
His son, Emmett Foster, called his father an unselfish individual and a great dad.
Foster coached football and taught biology and chemistry in Columbus before moving to Tupelo in 1955.
He worked with the Boy Scouts for nearly 35 years, volunteered with the hospital, was a founding member of Lift, Incorporated and served on various committees.
Carla Enis, NMMC Director of Volunteer Services, said Foster volunteered each Thursday at the information desk.
Dorothy Lucy with Lift, Incorporated said Foster was always willing to support any decision Lift made as long as it would help the community.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Agnew and Sons Funeral Home in Verona.
