Lee County, Miss. (WTVA)-- The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating an early afternoon crash in Lee County that claimed the life of a Baldwyn woman.
The crash happened around 1 p.m. on MS 245, just south of Shannon.
Officials said it appears Timothy Autrey, 26, of Baldwyn was driving a Ford F150 when he lost control and the vehicle overturned. Autrey was ejected from the truck, but suffered only minor injuries.
Authorities say Autrey's wife Amanda Autrey, 25, had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Troopers said neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
Overall, Mississippi has seen more fatalities this Christmas period than last year.
Tuesday's accident now brings the total number of highway fatalities to four people statewide.
Last year, Mississippi had one highway fatality over the Christmas holiday period.
