CORINTH, Miss. (WTVA) -- An autopsy will be performed Friday in Jackson on a man shot and killed at a Corinth apartment complex Thursday afternoon.

Corinth Police Captain Ralph Dance tells WTVA.com Jimmy Daniel Morgan, 32, of County Road 617 in Corinth died at the scene of the shooting on White Street.

Dance says Morgan went into an apartment around 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon and attempted to sell a car CD player to the people who lived there.

Investigators say the people inside the apartment told him repeatedly they didn't want the stereo and asked him to leave.

Dance says Morgan became agitated and one of the occupants of the apartment picked up a .22 caliber rifle and asked him to leave.

Investigators say it appears Morgan charged the man who fired several shots at him.

Morgan ran out the back door of the apartment and fell of the back porch.

Dance says it appears Morgan had been shot five or six times.

He says they will know more once the autopsy is completed.

Dance says the man who fired the shots is in custody, but so far, no charges have been filed.
