TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - It's called "A Day in Pre-K."

Started this school year at the Early Childhood Education Center in Tupelo, parents, grandparents and even some great-grandparents are seeing and doing some of what their four-year-old children take part in every day here.

Teachers say the children learn while they play by using the latest technology but also just some old-fashioned creativeness.

Having the adults here helps everyone involved.

Teacher Susan Wright Roberts said, "We encourage a lot of parent involvement. It's great for the children. It also gives parents an opportunity to learn what their children are doing every day and what we're trying to teach."

Great-grandparent Dot Maxcy says the value of time spent here with her great-grandson can't be underestimated.

Maxcy said, "My husband and I keep him a lot because his mother works. We're privileged to have him a lot. He comes home and it carries over. He shows us what they learned how to do that day."

For parents like Jarvis Dillard, it's an opportunity to understand more about what his daughter is learning.

Dillard said, "It helps me because I get to see them interact with other children. I also get to see what they're learning on a daily basis."

"A Day in Pre-K" happens once a month at the center.

Educators say preparing the students for kindergarten is only enhanced by the parents and grandparents who take part.
