OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) -- Oxford police have written more citations to area businesses after a compliance check for sale of beer and tobacco to minors.
Police Chief Joey East says the checks were conducted over the weekend at seven stores for selling beer to a minor without check for identification.
Five stores cited included South Lamar Texaco, South Lamar Shell, Oxford Sport, James Food Center and the Shell on West Jackson.
An undercover buyer also went to six stores to purchase tobacco products, but only one, Texaco on University Avenue, was found to be in violation of state law requiring the clerk to check for identification.
