Oxford company awarded military contract

WASHINGTON (WTVA) -- An Oxford construction company has landed a contract to build two barracks at the U. S. Army's largest training post.

The U. S. Department of Defense awarded the $22.5 million contact to Carothers Construction for the project at Fort Jackson, SC.

Officials say the company has handled other contracts for the military, including a $29.8 million renovation of the basic training complex at Fort Jackson.

Fort Jackson is undergoing an 8-year, nearly $1 billion building program to upgrade soldiers’ quarters.
