LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - Mississippi Department of Transportation officials say they will permanently close a bridge in Lafayette County.
According to a news release, MDOT will close Timber Bridge on State Route 328 due to deterioration from weathering that was found on a routine inspection.
Officials say the deterioration to the deck and other parts of the structure had progressed significantly over the past two years.
Authorities say it has forced the bridge to be classified as structurally deficient.
MDOT says plans are underway to replace the bridge.
