Lafayette County Chancery judge passes away

OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Lafayette County Chancery Judge Edwin Roberts has passed away at the age of 65.

Judge Roberts was serving in his third term.

Lafayette County Chancery Clerk Sherry Wall tells that Judge Roberts died from complications from an inoperable lung tumor and a brain tumor.

Judge Roberts began his first term as chancery judge in 2003.

Wall describes Judge Roberts as bigger than life and a very fair judge.

His brother, Judge Larry Roberts, serves on the state court of appeals in Jackson.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Waller Funeral Home.

Visitation is planned for Friday, July 5 from 2 until 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Oxford, and then on Saturday, July 6, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. also at the church building.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 6, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Oxford.
