FULTON, Miss. (WTVA/ICC Athletics) – Itawamba Community College head football coach Jon Williams announced two more Indians have signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period.
Sophomore defensive end Midoho Okpokowuruk (Charlotte, NC) signed with Tennessee Tech University and sophomore defensive back Pat Malone signed with Southeastern Louisiana University.
Okpokowuruk (6’2", 260 lbs) totaled 15 tackles on the season for the Indians, including 6.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He forced one fumble on the season.
“Midoho brought a lot of maturity to our team this season,” said Williams. “He provided our defensive front with a constant threat off the edge and brought a lot of experience to a very young defense that helped bring along some of the younger guys throughout the season.”
Okpokowuruk was one of two Indians that finished the fall semester with a 4.0 GPA, along with freshman placekicker Tyler Jackson (Oxford).
“He really came to ICC on a mission. He learned the importance of hard work in the class room and really took advantage of our Student Success Center to help him improve his academic success.”
Malone (6’0", 180 lbs) finished the season with 29 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sacks. The defensive back led the Indians with a team-high 7 pass break-ups.
“Pat had a solid two-year career,” said Williams. “He didn’t have a lot of options out of high school and it’s always a great when you see the hard work of a player in the classroom and dedication to improve themselves on the field pay off with an opportunity to play D1 football.”
