TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — Monday's severe storms have left some in the dark.

Power outages have been reported across the region due to the bad weather.

For example, Tombigbee Electric Power Association reported around 9 p.m. about 1,500 customers without power.

Manager Bill Long says the areas affected include along the Natchez Trace Parkway, Spring Lake, Belden, Plantersville, Guntown, Marietta, East Fulton and Peaceful Valley.

He adds most of the outages are due to broken limbs and lightning surges.

TEPA workers are aware of at least six broken power poles.

Long says it's possible electricity may not be restored to all customers until 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

In the meantime, he asks people to stay away from downed power lines.
