FULTON, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Mantachie woman faces charges after authorities say she drove her car through a cemetery Friday night, damaging several gravesites and tombstones.

Investigators say Melissa G. Thayer, 47, is charged with destroying cemetery items, a felony.

Authorities say Thayer had apparently gone to the Friendship Methodist Cemetery to visit the grave of a relative.

They say she apparently drove over several graves and destroyed several tombstones.

Evidence collected at the scene led to Thayer's arrest on Saturday.

She is currently being held in the Itawamba County jail on a $5,000 bond.
