Fulton, Miss. (WTVA) -- Itawamba County Supervisors are on board.

That's the word from county officials who plan to help out a group that wants to offer public transportation to Itawamba County.

Itawamba FIRST Foundation representatives recently asked Supervisors to appropriate $15,000 in their upcoming budget to go toward the purchase of a bus.

The plan calls for offering a ride primarily to senior citizens and the disabled, but all will be allowed to come on board for about $3.

"It puts a burden on the whole family to take off work and things like that and it helps in things such as even getting to the pharmacy or the grocery store, so this is a very good day for our county. I'm very excited," Itawamba FIRST Foundation Vice-Chairman Brian Quinn said.

Quinn says they plan to begin with one van and hope to expand to two.
