FULTON, Miss. (WTVA) -- An Itawamba County grand jury will review the findings of an investigation into the death of a Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks officer last month.

Cody Weaver, 19, of Fulton was initially charged with negligent homicide in the death of Master Sergeant John Collum on May 9.

Collum was helping deputies investigate a report of a prowler on John Rankin Highway north of Fulton when he was hit by a car driven by Weaver.

Sheriff Chris Dickinson says at the time of Weaver's arrest, he was traveling about 75 miles per hour when the accident happened.

Today, Dickinson says the full report of the investigation from the Mississippi Highway Patrol is completed and points to Collum's death being an accident.

He says a toxicology report shows the driver was not impaired at the time of the accident.

Dickinson says his department will follow the grand jury's recommendation on whether or not to drop the charges against Weaver.
