JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — Mississippians looking for assistance after storms hit in late April and early May have until the end of the day on June 30 to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency or the U.S. Small Business Administration.
So far, FEMA and the SBA have distributed nearly $17.7 million in total federal disaster assistance to residents in Itawamba, Jones, Leake, Lee, Lowndes, Madison, Montgomery, Rankin, Simpson, Warren, Wayne and Winston counties.
The money has been used to assist homeowners and renters to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses or for low-interest disaster loans with the SBA not fully compensated by insurance.
Residents can register with FEMA online at DisasterAssistance.gov
or by smartphone or tablet at http://m.fema.gov
