GRENADA, Miss. (WTVA) - Grenada police say they have arrested two brothers in connection with what could have been a shooting death.
Detective Chief George Douglas tells WTVA.com that Rodney Berry, 22, and Raheem Rashad Berry, 21, were arrested late Monday afternoon.
He says both have been charged with murder and as of Monday night, both are being held in the Grenada county jail.
Detective Douglas says a bond hearing is set for Tuesday.
The charge stems from a call about a possible shooting at 1042 Sweet Home Road around 9 p.m. Saturday.
Officers say they found Kenneth Maxwell Spells, 56, lying in the yard near the residence.
He says Spells was taken by ambulance to the Grenada Lakes Medical Center where he later died.
In a separate incident, Detective Douglas tells WTVA.com that his department was notified about a stabbing at 115 Johnson Street in the Sundown Subdivision shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday.
He says officers found Clarence Edward Ford, 45, lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
Ford, whose address is listed as 113 Johnson Street, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, then airlifted to the MED in Memphis where he later died.
Following an initial investigation, authorities arrested Timothy Ross, 40, and charged him with murder.
Ross lived at the residence where the stabbing occured.
He is currently in the Grenada County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
Autopsies will be performed on the victims of what officials say are two unrelated murders in the city of Grenada over the weekend.
