GRENADA, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Grenada Lakes Medical Center could soon fall under the control of the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

On Monday, the Grenada County Board of Supervisors voted to offer the lease option to UMMC.

The attorney for the county say terms of the lease will not be released until a definitive agreement is finalized.

The hospital is owned by the county and has 156 patient beds.

UMMC officials say they expect to take over operations by the end of the first quarter in 2013.

The transaction will be subject to approval from the Board of Trustees of the State Institutions of Higher Learning.
