MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WTVA) -- The National Weather Service says a survey of damage from storms Wednesday night in Union County was not the result of a tornado.
NWS reports the damage was caused by straight-line winds during a severe thunderstorm that hit near Myrtle.
Several homes suffered some damage in Union County.
A National Weather Service team did determine an EF-1 tornado touched down in Grenada County Wednesday night.
Several homes were damaged when the twister, with 105 mile per hour winds, traveled about a half-mile on the ground.
Other tornados were reported in the Mississippi Delta and in central Mississippi when the storm system moved through Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
