GRENADA, Miss. (WTVA) -- Grenada police are looking for help to solve the robbery of a convenience store Thursday and the brief kidnapping of the store's clerk.

Detective Captain George Douglas says they received a call around 3:20 a.m. about a robbery at the Kangaroo station.

Investigators say a black man entered the store on Highway 51 south, showed the clerk a small-caliber handgun and demanded the money.

The suspect then forced the clerk to walk out of the store and north along the highway.

Douglas says the man forced the clerk back to the store and asked them to drive him to another location.

He says the robber got out of the car on a nearby street and the clerk drove away, but reported hearing a gunshot.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact the Grenada Police Department.
