GRENADA, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Grenada County man faces drug and firearm charges following his arrest Tuesday night.
Sheriff Alton Strider tells WTVA.com John R. Smith, 69, was arrested a home on Nelia Road west of Grenada.
He says deputies went to the home to serve a writ on a bank repossession.
Strider says what they found was an elaborate indoor growing system and a large number of marijuana plants growing in pots in a bedroom.
He says deputies also found 21 firearms, including two assault weapons, and thousands of rounds of ammunition inside the home.
Smith is charged with six counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, manufacture of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
He is currently being held in the Grenada County jail on a $70,000 cash only bond.
