FULLERTON, CA (WTVA) – An Atlanta firm has been selected to handle the design the first phase of the Yokohama Tire manufacturing plant in West Point.

Company officials announced Thursday they had selected Kajima Associates/Architects & Engineers, PC to design the 931,000 square-foot factory.

Yokohama will make an initial investment of $300 million and create approximately 500 jobs.

Officials expect construction to begin later this summer with a completion date of October 2015.

The company expects to manufacture one million tires a year at the West Point plant.
