Wanted man arrested in West Point

WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) -- West Point police say a man wanted since July 2013 was arrested following a car accident on Wednesday.

Authorities booked Jamond Nance, 24, after he tried to get away from a police officer who was attempting to pull him over. In his attempt, the vehicle Nance was driving hit another vehicle.

Officers say Nance had two large bags marijuana and a loaded handgun in plain view in his vehicle. The gun was reported stolen in another jurisdiction.

He was charged for felony fleeing, possession of marijuana and possession of a stolen firearm.

Police Chief Tim Brinkley says Nance was also wanted on prior charges of felony fleeing and possession of drugs.

His bond is currently set at $75,000.

Additional charges are pending, including those associated with the accident and injuries to another person.
