State Representative David Gibbs resigning

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- Long time state Representative David Gibbs of West Point has told state leaders he is resigning from the seat.

Speaker of the House Phillip Gunn says Gibbs is stepping down for health reasons.

Gibbs has served as the state representative for District 36 which covers Lowndes, Clay, and Monroe County.

He has served in the legislature for 21 years.

A special election will be set by the governor to fill his seat.
