WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) -- The University of Southern Mississippi is traveling all over the state to educate home buyers.
Saturday the Southern Miss Institute for Disability Studies held one of its "Home of Your Own" classes at the West Point City Hall.
"Home of Your Own" is the institute's signature program.
They work with families who have members with disabilities in their home.
About 50 people came to the session to get advice and learn useful tips about buying a home.
"What we do is bring awareness as far as what options and what services are available and basically let them know what steps to follow," Southern Miss Institute for Disability Studies Associate Coordinator for Housing Services Heather Steele said.
The session included speakers from BancorpSouth and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development.
