WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) -- West Point police are investigating a robbery that occurred as a manager was closing her store on Main Street Friday.

Officers say the business manager of the Internet Café reported she was locking the business' door at the end of the day when an unidentified male snatched her purse off her shoulder and fled the scene going west.

Police were unable to locate a suspect near the scene but discovered the purse, which had contained two money bags, empty behind a nearby business.

The victim described the suspect as a man wearing black pants, a black shirt and a black cap.

As the investigation continues, Chief Tim Brinkley is offering free police escorts for business managers when they leave with the days deposits to deter any similar activities.

Brinkley says a reward of up to $1,000 is also being offered for information leading to an arrest in this case.

Anyone with information on the case can contact the Golden Triangle Crimestoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
