WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) -- The LINK is unveiling the region’s newest megasite, the Prairie Belt Powersite.

The event will be held Tuesday, October 30, at 5:30 pm at The Civic, 130 6th Street, West Point.

This event is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend to support West Point-Clay County’s economic development efforts.

Located in West Point, Mississippi, the Powersite is south of Hazelwood road, approximately three miles east of U.S. Highway 45 Alternate.

This site is the first master planned, industrial megasite in Clay County.

“West Point and Clay County have a truly unique asset in the Prairie Belt Powersite,” said Ron Maloney, vice-president Economic Development West Point & Clay County.

"The Prairie Belt Powersite has large capacity in its electrical, water and wastewater infrastructure. This includes up to 400 megawatts of redundant electric power, 7.5 MGD of water available and 2.5 MGD of waste water treatment. Add that to the convenient highway access, rail service, as well as waterway access to Gulf seaports and manufacturing centers in Mexico,  the Powersite is truly an exceptional location," said Maloney.

Marketing of the Powersite to domestic and international companies has already begun.

“I expect the Prairie Belt Powersite to escalate industrial activity in West Point-Clay County and achieve results comparable to other megasites in the region and neighboring states,” said Joe Higgins, chief executive officer of the LINK.
