Navistar cuts workers at West Point facility

WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) - Navistar Defense has announced the layoff of 35 workers at its West Point facility.

A Navistar spokesperson says the workers were notified Friday morning.

Navistar builds military vehicles at the West Point facility under contracts to various government agencies in the U. S. and internationally.

The spokesperson says the cuts were made because a contract was completed.

Navistar operates the West Point facility on a contract basis and hirings and layoffs are based on the number of vehicles needed
and the number of contracts with the company.
