WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) --The Brooks Institute of Martial arts is offering scholarships to eligible students within the West Point community according to Brooks Institute owner Alonzo Brooks.

Brooks held a free back to school luncheon today for kids in the West Point district and to announce the scholarship program.

The 3 Criteria for the Scholarship, having an overall GPA of 2.5, must perform 60 hours of community service and must be active in extracurricular activities.

"We decided to create a scholarship where we can give back to the community," said Brooks. "I wanted to aid and assist families that may need help getting their kids through college."

Deadline for the scholarship application is May 1, 2015.
