WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) -- A West Point man who fled from deputies was apprehended Wednesday and booked on drug charges.
Clay County deputies arrested Michael Melton, 38, for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and felony fleeing after he drove away from police during a traffic stop.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated the approximate street value of the drugs seized was $1,600.
Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the West Point Police Department assisted in Melton's arrest.
He is currently held at the Clay County Detention Center.
No bond has been set at this time.
The investigation is ongoing in conjunction with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
