WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) -- West Point's police department has added some vehicles to its fleet.

Three 2010 Ford Crown Victorias recently arrived.

After doing research online, the city's police chief discovered a place in Oklahoma selling the vehicles with low mileage on them.

The department saved money by purchasing used Crown Victorias because it will be easier and more cost efficient to replace vehicles in its current fleet that have more than 130,000 miles on them.

"To find used Crown Vics in such good condition and low mileage was a big plus," said Tim Brinkley, West Point police chief. "What that means that of the existing Crown Vics that we still have in service, the equipment that are on those cars will fit on these new cars. So that means we won't have to go out and buy all new equipment to outfit these cars to put them on the road, and that's an additional savings."

The department hopes to add at least three more vehicles sometime this summer as it continues the process of retiring its older vehicles.
