WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) The Clay County Sheriff Department is charging two inmates currently housed at the Clay County Jail with possession of contraband in a correctional facility.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that Chester Kellum, 34, and Cedric Burns, 20, were charged after discovering a cellular phone in each of their possessions after a search was conducted by law enforcement officers.

They are awaiting an initial appearance in the Clay County Justice Court on the new charges.

Both cases will be presented to a Clay County grand jury.

Scott stated that the Clay County Jail has a zero tolerance for any type of contraband (drugs, alcohol, cell phones, etc.) to be brought into the facility and will be charged as a felony. 

Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that the investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Department at 662-494-2896.
