WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) -- Got Drugs?
That's the question being asked by law enforcement agencies large and small.
West Point Police are among those asking for all unused or expired prescription drugs to be disposed of properly.
Unused prescription drugs should not be thrown in the trash.
Flushing them can contaminate the water supply.
Take-back programs are considered the best way to dispose of pharmaceutical drugs.
"We started April 1 and we're already on our second box, so that's wonderful," West Point Police Sgt. Zate McGee said.
If a take-back program is not available in your area, the best way to dispose of old drugs is to take the meds out of their bottles, mix them with something unappealing like coffee grounds and seal them in a disposable container and throw that away.
