TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WTVA) -- The Alabama Highway Patrol is investigating a three vehicle accident that claimed the lives of a West Point couple.

An AHP spokesperson says Ellis Andrews, 84, and Lorene Andrews, 83, died in the accident on Interstate 59 in Tuscaloosa County Thursday morning.

The accident happened shortly before 6 a.m.

The investigation is underway, but authorities say Ellis Andrews was driving a car and coming onto the interstate from an entrance ramp when he collided with two other vehicles.

The AHP spokesperson says the Andrews were not wearing seatbelts.

Four other people were taken to a Tuscaloosa hospital with injuries.
